Rolfing helps to organize and balance your structure with the gravitational field of the earth.
For the Individual:
Rolfing helps to restore order to the body after surgeries, accidents, injuries, sickness, repetitive movements, and the stresses of everyday living.
Every bone, muscle, nerve, blood vessel, and internal organ has its own individual wrapping of connective tissue or fascia. These structures should be able to glide across each other like silk scarves during normal movement. When there is insult to the structure, the fascia gets stuck, twisted, and pulled out of position. Nerves can become pinched and trapped and the resulting adhesions are often uncomfortable and painful.
Rolfing involves reorganizing the body by facilitating proper balance and alignment.
When the body is misaligned, the result is stiffness, aching muscles, and exhaustion. Chronic patterns of strain in the body make life frustrating. Moving through normal activities becomes difficult and tiresome.
The process of Rolfing is a joint effort between the Rolfer and the client. The Rolfer™ works layer by layer through the fascia, applying appropriate pressure as necessary, in order to mobilize structures and begin to restore flexibility and movement to the joints. Posture and breathing are improved. Movement becomes more graceful and coordinated and athletic performance is enhanced.
